Foreign Capital

There are no legal restrictions to foreign capital with respect to its participation in the voting capital of privatized companies, unless otherwise provided for in the sector specific legislation. On the current privatization stage and private investment, it is noticeable an increase in the participation of external capital in the P.N.D. For example, on the privatization of Rede Ferrovi?ia Federal S.A.?s Western Mesh, the foreign capital participation reached 100 %. With regard to LIGHT, the participation was of approximately 61% which represented the significant amount of US$ 1,384 million. The participation of foreign investors in the P.N.D. was reached the amount of US$ 4,240 million to date, which is equivalent to 23% of the total Program income.
